Meeting Lisa Harper & Stepping Out In Faith

The last 8 days have been hard and filled with spiritual attacks and difficulties. They have also had God’s gracious blessings and leading as well. Read more about both below.

First, I want to share the ending… I was at a conference this week and was blessed to meet and talk with Lisa Harper. I even got a picture with her and got to give her my business card for Choose Joy In the Midst and speak on hard topics, to include my upcoming book.

If you are not familiar— Lisa Harper is a strong believer in Jesus, a theologian, speaker, author, and she doesn’t take herself too seriously. She is hilarious! She’s authentic and the real deal. She spoke at the conference, and her words were a blessing. She speaks strong, sound Biblical truth mixed in with Southern charm and funny relatable stories.

I met many other people the Lord had ordained for me to meet at the conference also. One such person invited me to share my message at the beginning of his breakout session. And so I did. I had little time to prepare, but I knew it was a God-opportunity.

I was grateful.

The last 7-8 days have had a lot of opposition and spiritual attack present on many fronts. It is wearying to be bombarded and recognize the spiritual attack, try to fight back in God’s power, but also ask the Lord for relief from it.

I was interviewed on a podcast on trauma, triggers, & EMDR. There were attacks surrounding that interview.

We had a neurology appt for my child with seizures and the checkup news I was expecting was not our conversation. I left feeling a little shook and crying out to God as I drove away.

God was kind and gracious and gave new and specific songs just for me through the radio- to minister to me.

A number of other attacks and difficulties arose this week also.

I kept pressing forward asking the Lord to lead the way and help me do what He was calling me to.

This week I also was sharing publicly about my book title and asking for votes on my book cover designs.

Many wonderful pursuits to help others and to get my message out- a message of healing and hope.

I went to the conference open to whatever the Lord desired, and He led with conversation after conversation on the integration of faith and psychology for trauma healing…including talks about Christian communities and trauma healing.

I hadn’t planned to go to this conference, but God confirmed it when I heard of it and that Lisa Harper was speaking. There’s more to that story, but I’ll leave it there.

And so, it was such a blessing to meet and speak with her after she was the reason I came in the first place.

With regard to my upcoming book, she said she didn’t know of another book being written for the caregiver of trauma and suicidality, and it was needed. I wholeheartedly agree. Yes, it is.

Whatever battle you are facing friend, may you know you are not alone in it.
