I heard a message by Christine Caine, a Christian speaker and author, on Mary the mother of Jesus. “She had to replace her what if with an even if faith.”Her words regarding Mary’s response to the God assignment she was given were powerful. “An Even If faith dispels fear.” These words penetrated my soul as I considered them. Shifting what if this happens or that person responds in that way, etc, etc, to even if this happens God is still on His throne. God is still fighting my battles. Spiritual Battle- No Weapon Will Prosper.
Spiritual battle is real. Over this last week our family has been hit with spiritual battles— multiple ones. It is not new for us to be hit with spiritual attacks. Satan has the same playbook- and keeps hitting hard to back us down from what God is calling us to, but those who are God’s people have a promise found in Isaiah 54:17a. My 2024 Word(s) of the year are: Declare/Proclaim …Boldly. This comes out of Psalm 118:17 & Ephesians 6:19-20. The Lord brought these verses to me in late November and early December, and I began to notice the words- Declare. Proclaim. As Psalm 118:17 states, “I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done.” This deeply resonates with me. There has been so much that has felt like death in the last 8 years. Peace. In Jesus, we may have peace. Jesus is the One who brings peace, hope, & joy into a troubled world. He came down to earth to overcome the world and bring a way for True Hope & True Peace, through Himself. In this verse, Jesus was preparing His disciples for when He would not be present anymore. He told them they would have trouble. He didn’t say if or you might have trouble. He said— you will. We will have trouble in this world. Friend— You are Not alone. No matter what you are going through. No matter if anyone knows the battle you are facing, the struggles that are pressing in, the pressures you face. God is right there with you. You don’t have to sugarcoat your life. This Christmas allow yourself to miss and grieve the hard things in your life, the people you have lost, the circumstances and relationships that haven’t gone how you hoped. Make room for joy and loss. The excitement of Christmas and the pain of grief. Be kind to yourself and determine ways to honor any grief or loss you have this Christmas. Honor that loved person who you miss so much. How? Put a special ornament on the tree in honor of them. Lord you are mighty & good. Move in the midst of so many who need to hear your voice— & feel your presence— in the midst of their battle right now. Today.
