Nothing Can Separate You From God’s Love. You Are Not Alone!

If you have been around the Bible for some time, you likely know that the Holy Spirit intercedes on your behalf and on my behalf. Romans 8:26 says “…the Spirit helps us in our weakness, We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.”

So— when we pray and don’t know even what to ask for, maybe due to the request being heavy or complicated or we are in anguish or feel in despair and, or maybe have given up some on our hope that the situation will change… If you don’t know how to put it into words… Well, the Holy Spirit’s got you. You only have to pray and ask for the Lord to hear you and acknowledge and know that the Holy Spirit is interceding on your behalf.

The Holy Spirit is going to bat for you in advocating for your best to God the Father, in accordance with God’s will.

It is incredibly comforting and peace-giving to know that as you pray the Lord knows and hears you and you even don’t have to say all the words because the Holy Spirit is interceding with groans that words cannot express. We can come to God in our neediness and uncertainty, and He hears us and helps us.

Lesser known, however, is a truth I came upon awhile ago which just further solidified this assurance of God coming alongside in our distress, and moving with compassion and care and intercession for our best in every circumstance as we come to Him… humbly, needy, saying “Abba, Father.”

Romans 8:34b states,

“Christ Jesus, who died— more than that, who was raised to life— is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.”

Did you catch that?!

Christ Jesus is interceding for us!

Not only is the Holy Spirit interceding on our behalf but also, Christ Jesus is interceding for us!!!

Christ Jesus who is sitting at the right hand of God the Father is also going to bat for our best.

Two persons of the Trinity are interceding on our behalf.

If that doesn’t settle into your soul with a deep assurance that you are LOVED, CARED FOR, & CHAMPIONED, then we have more work cut out for us. We need to keep looking a bit further for gems from this passage.

Pause though and consider this again:

You are LOVED, CARED FOR, & CHAMPIONED by ALMIGHTY GOD.

Wow. Just wow.

Okay, let’s go on…

Rom 8:35 continues

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?”

Vs 36 “As it is written: ‘For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered,’”

Vs 37-39- “ NO, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in a Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Even Paul in 9:2 shares of his “great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart” over so many Jews rejecting Jesus & the gospel. He knows what is at stake and desires His fellow countrymen to know and believe in Jesus. To turn towards God who loves them.

Now, as you read the list of things in verse 35: trouble, hardship, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger, sword, what does your mind go to and settle on? Have any of these been parts of your own life? I know I have certainly dealt with great trouble and hardship in my life through being a caregiver for significant mental health battles and fighting for life among many other difficult seasons. God never abandoned me, nor abandoned my family through every single difficult thing we have faced.

God’s love has been constant and relentless, carrying me along.

His love has been a banner waved over us. “His banner over me is love.” from Song of Solomon 2:4b.

God has never forgotten or abandoned you either friend, through any of your troubles, or difficulties, or persecution, danger, sword, or anything else that has gone on in your life.

God pursues you with an everlasting love that stands the test of time. He is for you. For your best, which is found in His will, and in His great purposes.

Grab ahold of the deep truth that—

God. Loves. You.

Right now, no matter what has happened. No matter what you have done. No matter what has occurred to you.

He doesn’t condone any of the bad. He desires good for you. He grieves with you. Jesus has suffered deeply, been wronged, harmed, and misunderstood.

He is right there. Waiting, with open arms. He has always been there, waiting for you to turn towards Him.

We are more than CONQUERORS through Christ who loved us.

Nothing can separate you or me from God’s love. Not death or life. Height or depth.

No power of any sort can separate you from God’s love, no angel or demon, nothing.

Not your past or your present or the future can separate you from God’s love.

Who needs to hear that again?!

We can infer that the past can be talked about here too…

Your past cannot separate you from God’s love. His love is for ALL. No matter what they have done or not. He says Come to me.

“While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8. That is how he demonstrates His love for us.

Now is the time to take hold of this truth in your life and allow it to settle deep in your heart, deep in your soul, and believe it. Maybe for the first time.

Believe that God loves you with an agape love, a perfect love— A love that is not predicated on anything we do or don’t do. His love isn’t like human love.

He is God Almighty, who is all powerful, all sovereign, Creator of the Universe, the One to whom be all glory, and honor, and praise.

He is the One who loves us SO greatly.

Will you believe that today friend?

Nothing can separate you from God’s love.

Remember the truth that—The Holy Spirit & Christ Jesus both intercede on your and my behalf. The Holy Spirit intercedes “with groans that words cannot express” (Rom. 8:26). The Spirit helps us in our weakness and intercedes in that way for us.

I can have assurance that the Spirit and Jesus will intercede in accordance with God’s will for my life. I can trust that He, God, has my back, through every trouble and difficulty I face in this life. Call out to Him and ask for His help in your life too, for His intercession on your behalf.

I am grateful and thankful for this truth.
