Stop Fighting Fear by Sheer Willpower; Instead Do This.

    May 3, 2024 /

“Willing ourselves to stop fearing and then shaming ourselves when we do is not the way forward.” -Amber Jeann Parker Can I get an Amen? I believe that consuming fear, a spirit of fear, is from the enemy of your soul, from Satan. It’s one of his plans to take you down, friend. We don’t have the power to fully get rid of it on our own though- through our own sheer willpower.God is the One who can help us though. God is the One who can change and transform us.He gives us His Spirit. His Spirit brings life & peace. Can I tell you— Feeling shame for having fear…

You Are Not ALONE In Your Battle.

    April 26, 2024 /

You are not ALONE in your battle. Do you believe it? Do you have anyone in your corner, supporting you, coming alongside you in the battle(s) you are facing? Have you opened up to anyone and shared the silent or secret battle you face? Have you let anyone in friend? Do you have someone in your life who feels safe and you can trust to share what you are battling? I believe community is *vital* to making it through the battles we face. Safe, trustworthy, confidential, supportive community. Did you know “there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24). This is talking about Jesus. Jesus is…

    Strong, Firm, & Steadfast

    April 23, 2024 /

The end of 1 Peter 5 is rich with words of encouragement and exhortation for weary, persevering believers in Christ. Peter, the apostle, is writing to an audience of believers in Christ, the elect, scattered throughout a region that he names in verse 1:1. We can apply the general truths to ourselves also if we are believers. “And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.” (I Peter 5:10, NIV). 1 Peter 5:10 says after you have suffered a little while. This phrase denotes there will…

    Authentic & Vulnerable

    April 14, 2024 /

Choose to be authentic & vulnerable in safe community. It is a choice. To enter into being vulnerable. To open up our emotions, fears, insecurities, & stories to other individuals. To allow our authentic self be known. There is risk. Will I be seen, validated, & acknowledged? Or will what I share be dismissed, minimized, judged, or invalidated? Will I be rejected? For true connection & vulnerability, I believe mutual reciprocity of open vulnerability is necessary. Both entering into sharing. Active listening with empathy, compassion, & understanding present Will we give space to each other? To sit in the hard spaces but also the joyous spaces together too. To celebrate…

    True Freedom In Christ

    March 30, 2024 /

Luke 4:18–21 (ESV):   “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, 19  to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” 20 And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. 21 And he began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing” Jesus came to fulfill this prophecy originally from…

    The Amgdala

    March 28, 2024 /

Do you know what the amygdala is?If you’ve heard of it, it’s probably in reference to the fight or flight response related to stress responses or PTSD.That is true. The amygdala’s importance goes far beyond that though. The amygdala is the emotional processing center. It works alongside other parts of your limbic system to process your emotional memories, good and bad, and store them. You can’t access these emotional memories easily with cognitive thinking. This is incredibly important to understand for trauma healing as trauma memories are processed here. This is also why I’m a big proponent of EMDR therapy for emotional and trauma healing.I will share more on that later though.Follow me…

Manuscript Writing- The Blessing of Words Flowing

    March 19, 2024 /

On Saturday, I went to write on my manuscript and was so thankful the words flowed.2,632 words written on Saturday… making over 24,000 words. My book is for the primary caregiver of suicide, trauma, & mental health crisis. I would be honored to hear from you if your life is touched by any of those difficult topics. Please comment or email me to connect and share how your life has been affected by those topics. I had 3 months where I didn’t have more words for my manuscript but did a lot of other writing… When I picked the manuscript up again last month, I realized I had so many…
