True Freedom In Christ
Luke 4:18–21 (ESV):
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
20 And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. 21 And he began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing”
Jesus came to fulfill this prophecy originally from Isaiah 61:1. He fulfilled many other prophesies. The NIV says to proclaim freedom for the prisoners… to set the oppressed free…
Those who are captive & in bondage from sin can find healing and freedom through Jesus.
Jesus’ work on the cross and what He accomplished is the crux of my faith. He bore the punishment for the whole world’s sin, which was death, and He was separated from God the Father. He died but didn’t stay dead. He was resurrected back to life 3 days later. Salvation and eternal life is available through Jesus.
“…If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved” (Romans 10: 9-10).
We have true freedom through Jesus!
Easter is coming & I’m so grateful for what Jesus did— to make a way for us to be saved and have relationship with God again. How great is His love.
