Wait on the Lord- He Will Renew Your Strength

One of my favorite songs right now is “Wait On You” by Maverick City Music. The words and song immediately bring me into a place of worship in the midst of whatever I’m doing in the house or driving somewhere. The song is so powerful. I can begin to sing along with the words and my heart will align with the same prayer of waiting on the Lord in my circumstances, waiting on Him to work, waiting on His timing in my life and not trying to go ahead on my own and in my own power with something… allowing Him to order my steps.

The song is a powerful declaration based on Isaiah 40:31 which says “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” How true that Lord is the one, the only one, who can renew our strength… The only One who can carry us, restore and revive us… We must be patient and wait on Him to do so, in His timing, at the right moment, in the right way. He uplifts us. He strengthens us and continues to do so time and again! I am so thankful I can rest in the knowledge that God has me and will renew my strength- when I am weary, poured out, exhausted. God is right there and ready to renew my strength as I wait on Him. God is right there ready to renew your strength too my friend as you patiently wait on Him, wait on His timing and His ways in your life.

If patience is something that is hard for you, what’s awesome is that God can help in that too. When we ask Him to help us with the qualities we struggle in, He is able to grow us and strengthen us in those areas too. And so, as we wait patiently on the Lord to renew our strength, we can also ask the Lord to help us be patient in the waiting- And He will be faithful and work in us and give us the ability to do that too. It may be we are given opportunities to exercise patience in our life when we are asking Him for help (and He may allow moments that test our patience and require us to reach out to God and ask Him for help with patience- He has a sense of humor right?!).

All of that to say, God is there, an ever present help in trouble. He is there right with you always and you can call on Him for help. The awesome thing is that He loves you so much, and He will never leave you or forsake you. Wait on Him. And He will renew your strength. And He will grow you in all things, yes, even in your ability to be patient!
