When you’re tired and weary—Hold on to me
When you’re tired and weary, and “barely breathing… hold on to me. Hold on to me.”
These are the words that were coming to my mind this morning.
The words I am singing to myself…
Some of them from the song “Hold On To Me” by Lauren Daigle and some from my mind & from scripture.

The actual words from Lauren Daigle’s song “Hold On To Me” and such poignant lines are:
“When the best of me is barely breathing…
When I miss the light the night has stolen…
Hold on to me, hold on to me
Hold on to me when it’s too dark to see You
Hold on to me when I have reached the end
Hold on to me when I forget I need You
When I let go, hold me again…”
So, my question for you is,
What do you need to hold on to Jesus right now for, friend?
What battle are you facing?
What pain, heartache, grief, or burden do you need to lay down before the Lord…
To find hope and rest.
Jesus says in Matthew 11:28:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (NIV)
What are you needing rest in today, friend?
Jesus will supply it.
He may not take away the wearying things or circumstances…
~ BUT ~
He will supply the strength (Ps. 46:1-3) and the rest you need to continue through THIS day.
If you ask Him.
So… Do find rest in Jesus in the midst.
For me, I find it incredibly helpful and life-giving to:
Reach out for an encouraging song with truth to focus on.
Reach out for an encouraging verse or passage from the Bible to meditate on and find the strength and rest needed to go on through today.
Don’t try to carry that burden on your own.
You weren’t supposed to.
You do have to take an action yourself though…
To find that rest.
Look again at Mat. 11:28.
Jesus says “Come to me…”
He is telling you to do something to gain that rest.
You must seek Him out and ask Him for that rest. Do that today, friend.
The end of Lauren Daigle’s “Hold On To Me” goes:
“I could rest here in Your arms forever
‘Cause I know nobody could love me better
So hold on to me, hold on to me”
Yes, do find rest in Jesus, friend.
He truly is the One who loves you most and who loves you best.
He can help you in the midst of your battle, your grief, your trial, your pain, your weariness.
Seek Him.
Choose to take that action.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
He is waiting & ready and wants to give you rest.
Come to Jesus.

I love Psalm 46:1 – “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” Working on memorizing that one with the boys.
Also, a great reminder that we are called to action.
Choose Joy In the Midst
That’s a great idea- to work on memorizing that verse with your boys. It’s such important truth! I’m glad you were encouraged by the reminder to take action too. 🙂
