You are a conqueror through Christ- God cares for you in the storms!
I’ve been singing and meditating on the song “ Gonna Be Alright” by Ryan Ellis the past couple days & some of the words that resonated are “Everything’s gonna be alright… You hold me in your arms until my storm is calm.”
I don’t know what you are walking through today friend, what storm in your life is brewing or full on trying to knock you down, but I know some of my own storms…
If I set my eyes on Jesus for His help, His strength, His guidance, His protection during the trials, the storms, the pain, the hurt, the problems in this life, I know I will be cared for and not alone as I walk through each one. It doesn’t mean that they won’t be hard or that I won’t have human emotions walking through it, but those difficult emotions or feelings can be brought to the Father who cares for me so deeply, who loves me and you…
Rest in God & trust that even if the circumstances & problems aren’t looking good, or you can’t see a way forward, God is already at work in front of you & at work beside you- working all things for your good. And He’s doing the same for me.
To believe this, actually, truly believe it to my core, I have to go over to Romans 8 and sit with those verses and consider the truth in them.
Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” If you are a believer in Christ and have accepted Jesus’ gift of salvation, God is working good in your life. In 8:24 it talks about you being saved with the hope of heaven and eagerly awaiting that time (8:23).
Rom. 8:25 goes on to say “…If we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.” It is hard to wait patiently in affliction and trouble for good to be coming ahead of us, and yet, we are not alone in that difficulty, that storm. The Holy Spirit Himself is interceding (praying) for you and on your behalf (8:26) and He is interceding in accordance with God’s will, so praying perfectly over us, for the best.
Rom. 8:27 says “And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God”. The God who created us and knows our thoughts intimately as Psalms 139 states, this same God knows the mind of the Spirit and is praying over us and interceding on our behalf. To have this context and understanding before heading into the next verse is crucial because it displays the loving, careful, intimate way God carries us through our trials and tribulations.
Everything is going to be alright because we have hope through Jesus for heaven, the Holy Spirit is interceding on our behalf in accordance with God’s will in our difficult circumstances and God will work all things together for the good of those who love Jesu and are called according to His purpose.
For my good. For my growth, for my sanctification (becoming more like Jesus), for my increased ability to know the ways of the Father God, for my eyes to be opened more spiritually to be used by Him and proclaim God’s glory to the world and be a testimony of God’s powerful work in my life and the miracles I have seen Him do.
To proclaim the deep love of God for each one of us and how He is intimately acquainted with deep grief and loss and understands.
God gets it. Truly He does.
Look at Rom. 8:32 “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”
Do you still doubt that God is good? God of the universe loved you and me so much that He willingly gave up His only child, His only Son, in order to save you and me from eternal life in Hell and full separation from Him. The only way, because of our sin that separated us from God, was through a perfect sacrifice. God can’t go against any part of His character. He is all holy, all just, all loving. All of those attributes must be fulfilled. All holy (He can’t be near sin). All just (there has to be payment for sin). All loving (He fully desperately loves each person and wants relationship with them and the best for them). God loved each person in this world so much that He gave His Son. So that we could have relationship with God and have eternal life. Wow.
That kind of lavish- big, loving God desires to give us good things, the good things that He knows that we have need of, because He intimately knows each one of us. Remember, He created us and formed us in our mother’s womb (Psalm 139), and He is gracious toward us. I am so grateful.
Nothing can separate us from the love of God (Rom. 8:35), not trouble, hardship, nakedness, danger, or the sword. Neither death, life, angels, demons, the present or the future, no power, height or depth can separate us from the love of God (8:38-39).
And lastly, for now, Rom. 8:37 “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us”.
You are a conqueror through Christ in all things. In all the trials. In all the pain. In all the uncertainty.
I am a conqueror through Christ my Lord. And He is good. And He is for me and He is for you.
Let us sit in that truth today and everyday. If you are a believer in Christ and have accepted Jesus into your heart, then you have the hope of heaven and the strength of our gracious God who is carrying us & holding us through each battle, each problem.
If you haven’t accepted Jesus’ free gift of salvation but want to, it’s easy. Rom 10:9-10 says “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved”.
So, right now you can identify and confess you are a sinner in need of a savior, believe that Jesus is God and died on the cross for your sins and was raised again to life. Ask Him to save you today, forgive you of your sins, and come into your heart. You don’t want to do life on your own anymore. If you do this, confess & believe, you will spend eternity in heaven.
Leave me a comment- I would be honored to hear and rejoice with you if today is the day you begin a relationship with Jesus, the only One who truly brings hope and life.
Praise Jesus. He is worthy to be praised.
The words from the song:
“You hear my cry, my deepest pain
You listen patiently as long as it takes
You whisper truth over the lies
The words that bring me back to life
Everything’s gonna be alright…
…You hold me in Your arms
Until my storm is calm
You are the strength when I am weak
The only one that leads my soul to perfect peace
And I will sing my way through the night
The words that bring me back to life…
…And I believe, oh I believe
You’re working all things for my good
You’re working all things for my good”
God is at work in your life friend. And He is at work in my life. My prayer is that He will continue to redeem the pain and the struggles for His glory. Amen.
